Here's one I just finished up this past weekend. The handle is Desert Ironwood, the blade is 1095, 3/16" thick, and the guard is from an old railroad spike. I left the pitting on the guard, I thought it gave it a nice antique-type finish. The stud on the sheath also is made from the same railroad spike.

The overall length is 15 1/2" and the blade, tip to guard, is 9 5/8".

Thanks for taking a peek.

What do you think?

Thanks, guys, the comments are appreciated. I really am a fan of the antiqued look, myself. Not that I would turn down a modern, shiny knife, either :)

Since you asked, and with all due respect, I just don't care for the guard. The antiquey look is fine, but the size/shape just bothers my eye. Otherwise, very nice!

Some times we don't get it right the first time around, that happens.

Great second effort.

I like both versions. My personal preference would be for the antiqued look, but wow, you didn't skimp on the refinish!

Thanks for all the comments, they are appreciated.

Sometimes it's really hard to tear one down, but every time I've done it, it has come out better than before... Part of the learning process, I suppose. :D
