Dozier arrived today. I really like the wilderness sheath concept, but I'm thinking the nylon strap could have been shorter. Otherwise, so far, so good.

That K-1 looks very nice!!! I’ve been thinking about Bob’s smaller knives like the K-1, and the best way to sheath them. If Bob will agree to make something special for me, I may send my K-1 in for a new sheath. It would look like the Wilderness style sheath, but without the thumb press indentation, and with an adjustable length strap. The sheath would go on my belt and hang into my front pocket. The strap could be adjusted to fit either the lower pocket on my cargo pants, or the higher pocket on my Levis 501s. The difference in length isn’t huge, so I think that the strap could easily be adjusted that much. And if I really wanted to wear the sheath on the outside of my pocket, I could hang it there also. I think that the design would be very versatile. It wouldn’t work as well for outside the pocket carry as a true Wilderness style sheath, because it wouldn’t have the thumb indentation, but it would allow for more carry options. I have tried Bob’s “inside pants sheath” with the thumb indentation, but the indentation bulged a little too much in the pocket, so I ended up cutting it off.

So how is the grind of the Active Duty in comparison to the K-1? Is the thickness of the blade behind the edge much thicker on the Busse? I originally wanted a thinly ground zero edge Busse like the Active Duty, but it wasn’t yet released. So I ordered my convex ground K-1 from Bob. I must say that I’m very happy with my convex ground K-1, but just haven’t nailed down the sheath yet. I’m after a sheath that would make the K-1 work for both urban carry and outdoor carry.

I think the K1 in the wilderness sheath will be fine for urban EDC. An ADJUSTABLE strap would be awesome though. Great idea.

I wish I'd know the thumb serrations were an option. I'd have definitely ordered them.

I'm still a little worried about D2 rusting, -vs- S30V or Inifini, but it's a great little knife.

I haven't had many corrosion problems with my Doziers. My K-4 developed some patina once, after I left the knife in its sheath, both bloody and wet. The knife sat there all night after fishing. That was the only time I ever had a hint of corrosion, and it came off quite easily. No damage done. I wouldn't worry too much. My Busse Satin Jack rusted MUCH easier than my Dozier ever has.

Great, thanks.

BTW, I also tried that wilderness sheath inside my front pocket, and my back pocket -- in jeans.

Neather worked perfectly, but definitely some potential there.

I was thinking I might sew up the top 3/4" of the nylon strap so the sheath rides a little higher. It seems to me the top of the handle should line up with the top of my belt.

I know this comes up a lot -- and my first instinct was to say "definitely underpriced".

As I sit here looking at it, I'm thinking maybe more "right" priced, or just mildly underpriced.

I have a bunch of knives that were more expensive, but they suddenly just look OVERPRICED.

Somehow, $200 just feels about right for a first-rate EDC.

Have a few Doziers myself.., and as Buzz mentioned. I've never had corrosion problems that are significant. Awesome cutters!
