Just finished this one up last night, forged from 1-1/8" round bar of W2. 5/16" at spine with moderate distill taper, blade is 9-1/2" long x 2-1/8" at its widest, overall length is 14-3/4". Handles extremely well for such a large fighter.

Hamon is very subtle but quite active when viewed in person. The Ironwood was supplied by the customer and is some of the nicest ive worked in years. Will be applying several more coats of wax to hopefully preserve the color of the wood and resist darkening (if anyone knows a magic trick for this let me know). Forgive my crude photography skills-

thanks for cropping the photos Peter makes a big difference, and thanks to everyone else for the kind words.

Wow that is gorgeous, and the wood and bad either. I like the whole thing, I thought you did not take orders?

hi barrabas, i dont take orders in the traditional way, I do however work with folks that call me and stay in touch etc... thats what happened in this case. I hope to start taking orders at the first of the year.

Whats your # then:D(I have been to the site no need to post it), that is a gorgeous knife. Very nice, if you do start taking orders that would be great. I am not big on cord wrapped knives myself so when I see you do one in wood it really jumps out at me. The character in the ironwood really contrasts nicely with the hamon making a really cool overall look.

That's just too nice,I REALLY like it!
Beautifully figured Ironwood, don't know much magic but exposure to sunlight darkens some woods.

Awesome work,Matt.
Great score,Peter.

That could handle several problems! Good looking fighter, Matt! Peter will have his hands full with that one. Congrats, Peter.

Nice one Matt!

As far as I know there is nothing you can put on the ironwood to stop the darkening or patina. Wax and different sealers will slow it down though.
