I use a 6 dollar gerber diamond hone and did the job on a cold steel recon with carbon steel as well as those 70 dollar sleeves.I just laid the hone up against the sharpmakers hones and kept the same angle.
They are way overpriced. Look at the dmt flat sharpeners. They sell for a fraction of the cost of the spyderco. and they have just as much diamonds in them.
