thought i'd share something with you about the swedish mora knives. they're razor sharp out of the box. that's all. :D be careful out there. it was a carbon steel clipper. btw great knives, bought 4 of them. stronger than you think if you haven't owned 1 before.

pics after the ER got two stitches, and cut my tendon cap? from what i was told. basically cut down through the knuckle.

Ouch. Moras are definitely sharp. Worst cut I've ever had was from a Mora.

What were you doing with the knife when it bit you?

i was helping my pops in the backyard burn some branches/sticks/bamboo. i picked up a cool looking stick.. almost like a staff. i was shaving off the top to round it off for a handle and made a big "NO-NO" move. i cut towards myself. off course, the knife being razor sharp, cut through the wood, and then some. Ultimately leading to this. lesson learned. don't be lazy with a knife in your hand, always be alert.

Ouch, look bruised, that's usually worse than the cut itself, should heal nicely though.

Went camping last fall and my brother brought his friend. We gave him the task of cleaning potato's but didn't take into account that he wasn't that good with a knife, the knife being razor sharp didn't help either.

Mora with a convex grind.

The damage a hour latter when we changed the dressing.

It may not look that bad but it was a bit of a panic situation when it happened. It was clean enough of a cut that it didn't start bleeding right away but by the time I grabbed the med kit his whole hand was covered in blood and he started freaking out a bit. We were about 45 minutes from the closest hospital but thanks to well stocked medical kits and sheer luck he didn't hit something important we were able to avoid that trip. Ended up healing with almost no scar too.

ooo, he got lucky. i got pissed at myself as soon as i saw blood. i knew i messed up. same kinda deal though. clean cut, and i'm lucky i can still use my index finger.

I'd rather be cut with a sharp knife than a dull one. That being said, I'd rather not be cut at all. :)

Sorry about that (I'm swedish) I've been playing around with Mora's since I was a kid and have cut myself plenty - quick healing your way.

That looks painful I imagine that super thin blade with a scandi grind would go through skin just like butter.

I felt the same when I did this (Mora HighQ Allround Carbon):

I was drawing it from the sheath and the hand holding the sheath had a finger sticking out in the path of the knife's edge. I was so damned annoyed at my own carelessness!
The cut was so clean that the blood flowed for ages, but now you can't even see a scar.

Ouch... Having never owned one (or even heard of them before BF) they seem very popular. Looks to be an excellent utility knife.

Another place to spend money - at least they are inexpensive!

Mora's are great knives and cut like the dickens. I just used a Mora fishing knife (can't remember the model) to clean a turkey that my 15 yr old brother-in-law killed this weekend.

Speaking of protection. I looked into" hexarmor" gloves. I think they might do the trick.

I got my first scandiground puukko before I went to school. Although I was heavily superwised at first.

We have mandatory militaryservise here In Finland and it is somewhat custom to buy knife called "Sissipuukko" (translates to reconknife or rangerknife, not actually scandigroud) when you are in the service. Military personel told me its always few trips to hospital (hand injuries) the day knives arrive every year.

You're preaching to the choir here.

On a whim, I once sharpened my Mora #1 with razor strops and shaved with it.
