Is a ten inch folder legal?

Remember some time back when we thought it would be a good idea to let the kamis run with the ball and see what they'd come up with?

Well, Bura did just that and made a ten inch folder which I hear is in the air.

My question is -- is it legal? And who wants it?

Of course I'll [try to] post pix as soon as it arrives.

I don't know how much until I see it and maybe not then. Roughly ten bucks an inch keeps me out of trouble doing estimates -- unless there's a lot of fancy stuff included like carving, gold, silver, and inlay work.

this should be a real adventure. I don't put anything past Bura--not even fitting a 7-inch blade into a 3-inch handle. The legality will vary depending upon state and local blade-length laws. But who cares? This is bound to be a pound or two of fun and great craftsmanship.

Not sure about up in Reno, Uncle Bill... But down here in Vegas any blade you carry must be 3" or less. Supposedly that applies across the board, whether its an open carry or concealed. Don't know that carrying a 'hunting knife' out on BLM land would be veiwed any different? The Nevada CCW does NOT extend to knives in any way, shape or form. And of course; automatic, double-edged and butterfly knives are not allowed.

State and local laws vary around the country and are usually murky in interpretation. Can you post a pic when it gets here, I may want to order one.

I guess it is legal to sell and up to the buyer to handle the legality on his end.

I'm looking forward to seeing what old Bura has done with this folder.

Uncle,
It's legal in the cave!:D Sam, you called it first, want to defer to me?? I"m a born gambler'! Uncle mail me when time permits!
jim:cool:

We'll have to wait and see what this thing looks like. The dust bunnies might want it -- or, I might just give it away. Or, it might be so nice that it will go to some museum.

This is one I gotta see. :)

I wonder if it's going to have one of those thumb studs for one handed opening.

Are the kamis subject to copyright laws and the like for making knives?

Jim...you can have it if it is :barf:, Or if I have to start selling organs for it.

Other than that I have been looking for a new pocket knife for awhile. This might fill the niche... or a large canyon.

Like Uncle says,
We'll have to wait and see what this thing looks like.

Copyrights? The only thing they really copy are the models we send over and sometimes they don't do that very well.

I kind of hope it is an Opinel sort of affair. I bet the Kamis could make a kick ass version of that style.

The folder is gone -- sight unseen and paid for -- for $50 bucks. As mentioned I usually figure 10 bucks an inch for something I'm not sure of but since this is such a far stretch from a khukuri it could fall apart in a day -- or it could be worth $200 and a collector's item. So, the buyer and I both took a gamble. We'll see how it turns out.

An H.I. Folding Knife? :D:D This I have to see.:) I've been wanting a new large forlder for a while.:D

Here in Cental Utah, the locals don't mind if you carry a pocket knife or even a small sheath knife for every day cary. Nothing to big though. But out of town and up the canyon, Just about anything but Autos are okay.
