I was looking at Torx sets and found some good ones with T6 and above. I see that the small homedepot set goes down to T4 but I wonder if that set is good enough for loctited screws.
I've been tempted by the cheap set like the one at HomeDepot, and it gets reasonable reviews here even. But I've worked as a mechanic in my father's garage so I understand the value of good tools and how much better they fit the fasteners. For screws such as the loctited ones that Spyderco uses I want the best tools that I can get. I've been searching the net for the various Wiha sets. Of course the HomeDepot set is very inexpensive so I could get it too if I ever needed it.
I don't think ive ever used anything under 6 but my set came with a t4 maybe even t3 i'll haft to look its the kobalt precision screwdriver set, It's not the best in the world as I've broke off 2 t6 drivers may of been me just twisting to hard , I dunno but they have a lifetime warranty and they fit the screws well(no stripping) so when 1 breaks you just take it back to lowes and get you a brand new one not bad for 5 buck IMO
I have a "Husky" brand multiple-bit torx driver set from Home Despot, it goes below T6, has a total of 4 double-ended bits. So far, I've avoided any kind of bit damage, I've had it for perhaps four years now. I tend to be fairly gentle with my tools, and if I run into a loctited screw that feels like it might be a bit much for the driver, I'll use the soldering iron to break the loctite first.
I had the kobalt version from lowes and ruined the bit after one use. I spent an extra 5$ and went to sears for the craftsman set. Far far superior....
