Is added length worth it?

While browsing C***** C***'s website, I saw the Hydrant bag, which is essentially a cloned Maxped 10X4, only it's 16x4.

The front pouch is longer/taller also.

Anyone have one yet?

It looks like I could fit my present set up into it and still have plenty of room to add in an AMK Bivy 2.

Just seems like that extra half foot might make for awkward portability.

Any help/scoop would be welcome.

Going by the title, I almost moved this to W&C. :p
Let's try it in Wilderness & Survival Skills.

All I can tell you is that I downsized from a Maxped 12x5 to the 10x4, because I didn't like the balance of the larger holder. The 12x5 seemed too big attached to a pack and is rather unwieldy by itself on a shoulder stap. If I wanted to carry more than I could with my 10x4 setup, I'd use a Versipack, not a bigger bottle-holder. Just my thoughts on the matter YMMV.

I have one but haven't take it out on the town yet. It's seriously roomy, and will swallow a bottle of wine and cups with no problem. First impression is that it doesn't feel quite as sturdy as the Maxped bottle holder, but for the price it's more than acceptable.

I typically carry a Maxped 4x10 on a shoulder strap. This handles a 32 oz nalgene, camera, and a few odds and ends. I'm looking forward to moving items that I normally carry in my pant pockets, as well as some food items, into the larger bag for easy access. If I feel the need I may use the front pocket to carry a large fixed blade.

Well, I'm gonna go ahead and put together a kit in the Hydrant then lug it and see how it feels.

Agreed on the quality feel. Not feelin as rugged as the Maxped line.

I don't mind the 12x5 for the added volume, but have not had out for long duration.

We'll see....

Thansk for the responses so far.
