I have read the statute and they do not specify a knife of this type unless it can be considered a dagger. Can I carry this legally?

I have a ccw, it's just hard to tell whether the knife is legal to carry at all. A dagger is only mentioned in the phoenix city ordnance, but a dagger is never identified.

Didn't that recent law that passed basically indicate all city knife laws are preempted by state law?

Yes, which makes that part of the statute a moot point here. And nowhere in the rest of the statute is a dagger, switchblade, or auto mentioned. All that is mentioned is a knife specifically designed for defense or offense. So that's about as vague as possible. An otf double edged auto is obviously designed specifically for stabbing people, but do the courts see it that way?

"specifically designed for defense or offense"? Are you sure you're reading the right state?

Here's AZ's law:

I don't know about you, but now that I read it, it appears that if you are over 21, carrying any concealed deadly weapon isn't illegal unless it's carried "In the furtherance of a serious offense" or if you lie to a cop when asked if you are packing. I'd heard rumors AZ was going to "repeal all it's knife laws" which in most other states that have done such means carrying is not a crime, only carry with intent to commit another crime. Maybe this is it.

well in GA auto's are legal, as long as they are not concealed, it never says anything about OTF or Dagger style, I carry my OTF every day and have never had cops say anything.

Even with an Arizona CWP (Concealed Weapons Permit) is there anything indicating a maximum blade length in the statutes? Anyone know for sure? I do have the CWP but don't want to get nailed for breaking any laws.

AZ never used length as a legal standard far as I know, and the current statute contains nothing to that effect.

Hmmm, I just read that and it is surprising. It appears that the weapon alone is not the determining factor, but moreso the intent or actions involving a weapon (knife, etc.) if I read that correctly. Interesting info.
