Just wondering if has had any trouble with the lock on a jot sing model.I was thinking of sending mine back to be repaired. When i open the blade i notice the lock does not fully engage. I can just close the blade this has me a bit concerned. The only way to get the lock engaged is to open the knife with two hands and push it open, only then do you here the lock click in place.

Yep, I had the exact same problem with my Jot Sing Khalsa. I advise that you send it back in to Spyderco. They are tops in customer service. Try http://www.spyderco.com/customer_service.cfm to see how and where to ship.

Just send it back, their make it right! I dont have one, but the first one I picked up and tried had the same problem, It wouldnt lock up unless you gave it a very hard opening. The others I tried seemed fine though.

Interesting knife, but it just doesnt fit my large hands.

When mine arrived the lock wouldn't even engage

but after several severe inertial openings (I was pretty steamed) it came good

Afee - Sorry you are having so much trouble. I'll see if I can find out what's happening. What was wrong with the knife? Have you already sent it to us? do we have it now?

Let me begin by stating that I have not yet contacted Spyderco, and that I probably will as soon as I can.

That said, I just pulled out my Jot to check the lock, and I noticed a problem of sorts. If I open the knife quickly, either with the hole or with a kinetic opening (it works just like the Emerson Wave!)the liner rings like a tuning fork. It doesn't fully contact the bottom of the blade, and with a minimum of effort I can slide it all the way to the far scale. It appears that the prebent angle will only move it to the approximate center of the handles, and cannot compensate for wear after that point.

Although the lock has not failed on me to date, (this is not the knife I use for strenuous tasks)I would like it to be fully functional. However, I remember reading that, because this model was not produced locally and is now discontinued, it cannot be serviced in the usual fashion. I don't think I'd be willing to part ways permanently with this knife, as it has so much character. Has anyone had experience returning their Jot to Spyderco for service (and getting it back)?

Hi guys.

Just got ahold of Spyderco (or rather, they just got ahold of me). Seems like even though it can't be fixed (for reasons i fully understand) it will be replaced. Thanks guys, and Spyderco. Just glad to be heard after a bit of arm waving. Sal, I tried to answer all your questions in a personal emial. Thanks for picking this one up. Best of luck to the others with difficulty. E

afee,

Glad to hear you got things resolved. I just began my "arm waving" in earnest today, after getting a number of mixed signals from customer service. Hope things get cleared up for me as well...

Five days later and still no responses from Spyderco. I've tried calling and leaving messages with customer service. I've emailed both customer service and Mr. Glesser. At first, Spyderco misplaced my priority-mail, registered package which contained the Khalsa. Then, customer service told me they'd replace with another model but didn't follow through on their promise. Now, I can't seem to get a response from customer service. Last Friday, one representative promised to call me back ASAP. I've heard nothing. They have my email, my phone number, and my address. I'm thinking of sending in my GPS coordinates next.

Actually, I'm getting tired of dealing with this issue. Hermie, I'm beginning to rethink my initial recommendation to you. I based my reply on Spyderco's reputation for customer service, but my own personal experience has run counter to this impression.
