Is anyone excited?

I haven't heard it was going to be blue. But i'm not that excited because the sage 2 is just about perfect.

A couple retail sites have it listed as blue G-10. I just can't understand why it's listed higher than the Sage 1 was with CF. Is the lock that much more expensive to produce??

not really, there is a million different people to pay homage to, the bolt action lock just does nothing for me.

If the Sage 3 locks up as tight and operates as smooth as an Axis lock, then I will be real excited!

I was pretty stoked originally but I already have the 1 and 2. Just don't hear the 3 calling my name anymore. I am looking forward to the UKPK lightweight leaf blade.

I'm guessing it's a combination of a more complex lock, I believe the G-10 scales have nested liners which also require additional machining, and the G-10 is also being finished to resemble FRN, which may be a costly process. I'm not too worried about the higher cost, as I'm sure it will be worth every penny.

I'm hoping for a Sage with a sweet axis lock
and some hi end steel, made in CO. Some of my favorite
folders have axis locks.

Looks good to me. I've already got the Sage I though and I'm no longer much of a collector.

I'm stoked for the Sage III. Knifecenter has it listed now and claims it will be a dark blue G10. I've always wanted a knife with that color handle and I'm very excited to see how it turns out. Wouter's impressions of the bolt action lock also add to my eagerness to get this knife.

I guess it also helps that I'm collecting all the Sage models. :p

It's going to be a long wait. The Sage series is being made in Taiwan by a maker selected in part for their ability to make all the locks slated for production. Given the history between Benchmade and Spyderco, I suspect the axis lock will be the last one used, if it ever does get made.

I have a first production run Gerber Bolt action that still locks up tight after over twenty years, and I expect the Sage version of the lock to be much better.

Thanks! That's what I was hoping to hear. I've never handled a bolt action, guess I'll have to buy to try.

Taiwan Spyders have been almost non-exsistant for months. Don't look for these for a while. There's lots of other Taiwan Spydies that need to come first. The Gayle Bradley for one. Another run of the Chokwe for another. Don't know what's going on with Sal's Taiwan maker but production has interruptus of late. Yikes.

I am waiting for the Sage 3 to arrive.

Can't recall if my Gerber and Meyerco versions ever locked up tight (zero play), but they are reliable locking knives - which is what matters. I like these for their light weight.

One weakness with the Gerber and Meyerco versions is the blade stop being the plastic of the handle - it deforms too easily IMO. This issue looks to have been fixed in the Spyderco version.

You got that right. Still waiting on those Bradleys to show up. Got the Chokwe taken care of. Looks like we'll have to wait on this Sage 3 too.

I heard it was being made with blue G10 that was textured to emulate FRN. That was pretty much a deal breaker for me...if they use the standard Black G10 that I've seen in prototype pics, it would be a very interesting knife, though.

I imagine this sage will be less expensive than the other sage itterations, given the materials being used (G10 vs. Carbon Fibre or Titanium). Can anyone confirm this?

I'm going to have to disagree with you. I think this knife will sell like crazy! First it has a new lock and second the unique handles will make this knife very popular!
