Hello, I would like some opinions on the Smith and Wesson SWMP6 M and P M.A.G.I.C. Assisted Opening Folding Knife. I'm asking for a knife for Christmas and I would like to know if I'm getting a decent quality knife. I am not looking for something to put a micron edge on, but I would like a decent spring assisted knife within this knife's price range ($30-$50). If this isn't such a great option for me I would also like some recommendations for other spring assisted folders. Thanks!

(( not a paid BF Dealer ))

For $40 you can get a knife from a real knife company.

Kershaw Cryo, Thermite, etc etc etc.

Matt, the knife is cheap. It is also a brand with a weak reputation, and the blade is made out of steel that is marginal at best. The odds that you will be happy are slim to none.

This!

I also second the move towards Kershaw. I have some of their assisted opening folders, and they give you a lot of kife per $ imho :)

Some models that might interest you are: Volt, Volt II, Compound, Asset, Turbulance, Clash

Agreed about getting a Kershaw if assisted opening is your thing and that is your price range. In addition to having better products than what you are looking at they have one of the very best W&R dept's in the industry. They worked hard for that reputation too.
