Is benchmade discontinuing all of their balisongs?

I was talking to a gentlemen this morning about my new benchmade 62. He was quite adamant that he had on good authority that benchmade was getting out of the balisong market once and for all. He said it was because they continue to get sued over idiots who cut themselves trying to play with them! Has anyone else heard this or is it true?

Unless the gentleman can disclose whatever his reliable source is, I would ignore any commentary of the sort. Sounds more like gossip than fact.

Sums it up right there. I would not imagine they would discontinue them because to the extent of my knowledge benchmade started out making balis and they have a pretty big following. (I could be wrong though)

While I know nothing, Benchmade got off the ground making Bali's in their PCC days. They still hold a strong attraction and have a dedicated collector base. I would be VERY surprised if they stopped making them.

Bali-Song is a registered trademark of Benchmade as well as its original company name. It's difficult to imagine Benchmade without Bali-Song and Axis lock.

Greetings,

Benchmade still manufactures the 62 family of balisongs as well as the 32 & 51 Morphos. Rumor squashed.

Pretty much any attempt to sue a knifemaker for cutting yourself with a knife would be squashed by a letter from a lawyer that says, in essence, "It's a fucking knife. What did you expect? Go play in traffic."
