Is Busse moving away from powder coat?

There were a few Busse's that were cerakoted at the blade so I was wondering if it's something that Busse is going to start implementing on their knives.

I myself wouldn't mind seeing it, even if it was an option. Seem's to look pretty cool and not as thick and rough ?

Agreed. I'm actually one of the rare people who like coatings on knives but not powdercoat.

the cera seems to be a test to see how y´all like it.. me, I like that cool looking coat!

They could leave the coating off and I'd be overjoyed. I know "some" would complain about the machine marks on the blade but most of us, that actually use our knives, would love to have the uncoated blade.

A HUGE +1! The competition finish is my absolute favorite! The machine marks and INFI dimples just add to the beauty :)

You can actually see the marks through the coating.. thin, cool and beater friendly.

I fall squarely in the less than impressed with this category, makes me feel a bit less sad about not making Blade this year. Seems the focus was doing cerakote artwork on older models rather than bringing new designs to the table. Knives have been left uncoated (even unfinished) for centuries without them rusting into oblivion with far less advanced steels than today and I would love to see this trend die ASAP.

Were there even any Comp Finish offerings at Blade this time around?

I like guy's perspective. Busse's blade this year is.....boring! there i said it. i thought i was going to see some new scrapyards or just new designs in general.

I am not a fan of the cerakoating specially adding those patterns to the blade. I like naked blades better; however, I like some combinations of power coating. I kind of agree with Red Angel as to the cerakote. Not with the older or newer models. However, I am new so the old is new to me. However, I could do without all the patterns. I would be very happy with the BIG finish or satin finish. That being said I love the look of my 1311.

I really like Cerakote as a metal finish, we use it on firearms here lots and I spray the air cure version at home myself. If I am going to have a painted blade this really is what I would want it coated with. If I didn't know one of a pair of my CS blades was already finished and painted I would have requested they both be done in black Cerakote !!! I love the comp finish, my favourite finish of all, I love INFI is not at all rust prone, I also love strippers and satin INFI.... but for "end of the world", I like the added protection a coating gives. I may infact Cerakote one of my Swamp Rats for fun here at home.... :D

Agreed

It does give them a lot more options but I prefer the powder coat. Much easier to strip if you want also.
Now it may be different if I see one with the normal handle material and just a straight single color cera blade coating.
What I would really like to see is a Swamp Rat with clear powder coat.

The cerakote knives were kind of cool but not really my thing. But I do wonder how the coating would hold up after being used for awhile.

Most of my Busse, SR and SY knives have the black crinkle finish (or the smooth coat on the older blades), and the rest are either satin or double-cut. I am not familiar with Cerakote; my main concerns are how does it feel and how durable is it. The Cerakote designs look cool, but for a user it really does not matter (if coated, I think I would prefer plain black). Also, I like either Res C or canvas micarta grips on my users, and I'm not sure I would want the handles coated like on the knives with Cerakote.

I completely understand and see everyone's point of view on this, but... Like a seller menioned today, that stars and stripes Battle Mistress sure would be an awesome 4th of July watermelon cutter! :) Then I'd drink a little more, celebrating the US of A!
