Is camillus making the current Marbles knives?

Can someone confirm if this is correct, are the current Marbles knives being made by Camillus and is the steel the same as what's in the Becker line?

There seems to be a lot of bad rep about the Marbles Company on the other forum but if it's Camillus that's making these knives then I think it should be known because Camillus makes a great product.

I'm considering buying the Trailcraft model for myself and wanted to read some reviews but it seems that bringing up any new Marbles knife results in bad words about the past which I'm suspecting is mostly due to the other forums loyalty to BRK&T.

I'm not interested in discussing rumours or starting starting new ones so please don't reply if that's what you read into this post.

If Camillus is making the Marbles knives I'll be thrilled about it because I know their quality.

Thanks,

Excellent question, Collector. I don't know if anyone from Camillus can give you an answer though. As a huge contract knife maker, they usually have a 'keep it quiet' rule imposed by whoever is contracting them to make their knives. Exception being Remington, who is rightly proud of having Camillus as a partner.

I just looked at the leather handled hunters on the Camillus site. Probably the only way to know for sure to to compare them side by side with a Marbles. Of course that would not answer your steel question. A nice choice of a blade, however, the Trailcraft is a classic design, as revelent in the out of doors now as it was when Webster Marbles first made it.

I'll follow this thread to see if we do get an answer.

I have 9 Camillus knives and find them excellent.I purchased my first Marbles about 3 years ago,and just loved it as it was sharp, sharp right out of the box.Fit and finish excellent,so I ordered 3 more along with a couple of their Safety Axes and the other knives were just as nice as my first.I believe their blade steel was the vacuum melted ball bearing steel, not sure what type steel this is but edge retention is pretty darn good and talk about a cutter/gutter.Love the belly on the Marble's,don't have a Scagel as I have heard nothing but praise for them and hope to get one in the future.Anywho,I'm thinking if Camillus is making the new Marble's they should be very, very good.

I called Camillus and asked and the girl I spoke with named a bunch of brands the make knives for, some I never heard of but Marbles wasn't one of them. Not that she knnows anyway.

So, it's still a mystery!

I heard today from a knife retailer that the marbles knives that have been getting are coming from Camillus factory.

I'm satisfied with that! I ordered the Trailcraft and will do a review after I use it some.

I didn't get any confirmation on the type of steel.

I'm not even going to guess at what it could be since Camillus makes so many knives in different carbon steels. But, 0170-6 is a possibility.

I got my Trailcraft today. I'm very pleased with the knife but the sheath is cheesey.

I like knives that cut wood well and this one cuts as well as any of my Mora's and Bark River knives.

It's a sweet knife!
