Is Cold Steel

No, that's CRKT and Kershaw.

Not yet, anyway. Lynn Thompson is supposed to be still involved in running CS, although nobody knows how active he's going to be. Hopefully, he turned over the day-to-day administrative work, and retains the power to make big, silly knives.

Not yet ?
I found today at least three products "made by" Barebones Taiwan looking soo familiar
alike CS just a few days ago ...

I think avalanche just started ...

All I know is I just got a CS Voyager Vaquero XL, you know in case the new ones are garbage, I always wanted an excuse to buy this knife, I mean sword.

I had one in AUS8 years ago, but for whatever reason ended up letting it go, so I did the same thing....just in case. I’ve had a few CS folders over the years, and it’s definitely my favorite. Big crazy design, but an excellent user.

All right, all right. I made the mistake of trying to find a connection between the two companies.

Cold Steel is owned by GSM Outdoors

GSM was recently acquired by Gridiron Capital.

Barebones is too small to have attracted the interest of these kinds of places, so far: they only make a measly million dollars a year.

They are obviously sourcing product from Taiwan, because their Facebook page is bi-lingual. But there is no (as far as the internet can tell me) direct relationship between the two companies.

For what it's worth, Barebones is an "outdoor lifestyle" company, in a similar way to Filson, Huckberry, or those over-priced knives by that James guy.

They offer a carry bag specifically intended for coal. Somehow. Draw your own conclusions.

Sad that another great company goes east and down ...

I have one of the newer AUS10 versions, it's pretty good, lighter in the hand than I thought it would be.
