Is CS ever going stop using bead blasted finish?

I've been eyeing several of their blades, but I cannot bring myself to buy bead blasted blades.
Both for looks and the rust-factor.
I love the design of the Spartan and Espada.

At some point I read the rumour that they might ditch BB finish.

Any info on this?

buy them anyway, they may get some spots here and there but the knife will still be completely functional

If you prefer the aesthetics of a polished blade, a Dremel with some polishing compound will take care of both issues you mentioned.

In the same vein of thought, I've always wondered what a factory blade run through an isometric finishing process would look like.

They have officially announced in this year's Special Projects catalog that the Rajahs, the Espadas and Spartan will be a stone-washed finish.

However, it might be a good idea to wait a while for the older bead-blasted models to sell-out of inventories before purchasing any.

Right on. I always disliked the b. blast on my Rajah 2. Look at it too long and it wants to rust.

If you have a clothes dryer and some cheap supplies you can stone wash them yourself. Its super simple and I have treated all my CS folders to it.

They're slowly, but surely catching on to the lack of love for BB blades. I've been disheartened by Bead Blasting for some time now, first time I noticed it's tendency to grow rust was on a buddies, Kershaw Speed Bump, and soon after I obtained a Spartan, and was disgruntled by the serious rust spots that appeared even with a liberal amount of maintenance. Stonewashing is ideal IMHO, it's good at hiding wear marks, and isn't super shiny, making it a quite subtle finish.

I don't mind bead blasted finishes because they're less reflective than a satin finished or mirror polished blade, but I generally do prefer a stone wash finish. Good job on changing that, Cold Steel. The stone wash will look especially gorgeous on the Spartan, and now I'm annoyed that I didn't wait to buy mine.
