Does anybody have any experience with Gerber S30V?
If so, could you please tell me about it, I'm thinking about getting a Gerber Decree.

My only experience with gerber s30v is with my yari 2. Ive put it through some hard use. The blade has held up very well. It seems to me that its not as hard as other companies s30v, so edge retention is not quite as good as others but is still good. The trade off is it seems tougher than other s30v ive used.

With it not being as hard, it will also hold onto a more stubborn burr, making sharpening more difficult.

There are a bunch of knives available in the sub $50 price range.
- Is that your price cap?
- What is it about the Gerber that you like?
- Are you open to other brands and suggestions?

For about 70 dollars, he could get a Kershaw Blur in S30V.

I understand, but I noticed that the knife he was asking about is around $45. To near double the cost, is a hard pill to swallow to someone who isn't a knife knut and doesn't realize the differences.

I do agree that there are plenty of options, I personally would take a lightly used manix 2 in S30V for around the same coin...

Yes, I'm definitely open to other brands, as long as they're American made. I would be grateful for any suggestions.
I do like that Gerber has come out with some more American made knives lately, but I don't particularly like the Gerber brand.

I've seen Buck Vantages on Amazon for around 48 bucks, if I remember right. Buck has awesome S30V.

I actually might just buy the 420HC version of the Buck Vantage because it's only $24 for a USA made knife.
bucks 420hc is pretty good for a user. easy to get sharp, holds an edge decently. tough enough as well even with the hollow grind. doesnt rust easily. i have many bucks in 420hc fixed and folders its one of my favorite user steels. i dont think youll be disappointed.
