Is getting the "super" versions of emerson worth the extra 50 or 60 bucks?

I'm looking into getting a cqc8 as a no-nonsense folder since I'm done with all the bells and whistles knives. I'm torn between getting the standard stonewashed plain edge cqc8 and the super cqc 8 which costs substantially more for a blade length difference of less than half an inch

Does anyone have comparison pictures?

I've a super 8 and a 13. The thing with the super 8 that I noticed is that 1) liners are thin including the locking liner but it doesn't seem yet to effect how it locks up. Just on a longer/bigger knife just for my own piece of mind I wouldn't mind something thicker in that respect. 2) the blade itself at the spine is thin. Personally I like the smaller bladed EKI's cause they just seem abit more stout. Handle ergo's are what do it for me on EKI's though. keepem sharp

Yeah I'm leaning more toward just a cqc8, 200 bucks flat instead of 260+ for a few more centimeters of blade

I have 7's and a super 7. To me the biggest difference is the size of the handle in your hand. The blade as you said is only 1/2 inch longer, it is also slightly wider. To really answer your question: in my opinion, the super's are great but don't give more "cutting ability" to justify the price difference. I got my super 7 because I like big knives. I find the regular sized Emerson's are more than enough knife to handle anything.

I think it's worth it, The Commander is a good size but if
I have to defend my life with my knife, I'd prefer the Super.

What made you choose the commander over the cqc8? I have always loved the shape of the commander but that recurve looks like a pain to sharpen, especially the tip since you have to basically have the knife vertical when trying to sharpen that part.

I love the recurve shape though many do not, The Super has been my EDC for the last few years.
I use it but I don't abuse it so I haven't had to sharpen it yet. It is still hair splitting razor sharp.
While at work on jobsites I carry my Emerson P-Sark and it is a lot less cared for than the Super.

You've used the knife for years and without sharpening it is still hair splitting sharp? I find that kinda hard to believe dude.

Have no idea how he managed to do so, but please do share your secret with us! 154cm isn't exactly m390 or 1095
