hey guys -was looking thru this sellers items and saw the write-up on this knife--im not convinced--this looks like the same pale, yellow, non translucent handles that were being produced by camillus post "04. ebay item#150193892503. this is the first time i have looked at one of his auctions and didnt agree on the write-up. what do yall think?

I can't say for sure about that knife but the seller had a ton of stuff from the factory auction. I've gotten a couple of nice pieces from him.Rick

thanks rick--like i said, this is the first time ive read one of his descriptions that i dont agree with, ive been veiwing his items for several years. ive also been an avid schrade ebayer since 04. sorry i dont know how to post a link, but maybe one of the BIG DOG schrade guys will give their opinion also--thanks,brady

As mentioned by Rick, they had most of the factory collection that they have been selling here and there since 2004. Most of the knives they have sold are genuine
Imperial/Schrade-Walden/Schrade products. However if it is pre 1973 then it was not made in Ellenville, it was made in Walden as the knife is stamped, only Schrade stamped products were made in Ellenville as Schrade moved from Walden to Ellenville shortly after 1973. I think it is genuine although I have thought that in the past and been proved wrong. I'm sure someone here knows for sure.

Schrade Walden moved to Ellenville in 1958. The Schrade Walden name was retained until 1973. Knives made in Ellenville between 1958 and 1973 continued to be stamped with the company name Schrade Walden. You can confirm this by looking at period catalogs and the addresses given.

1958: The Schrade Walden Cutlery division moves from Walden, NY to Ellenville, NY. Schrade Walden Cutlery Corp. was consolidated as Ulster Knife Co., Inc. on September 26th, 1958. Some hunting knife patterns continued to be made in Walden for a short time.

1973: Schrade Walden Cutlery Corp. was consolidated with Ulster Knife Co., Inc. on September 26th, 1958 and this corporate consolidation was amended on September 17th, 1973 changing the name to Schrade Cutlery Corp.

I agree that Buzz is not likely to lie about a knife. He does occasionally mis-state facts though.

Just my 2 cents worth, but none of the remakes I've seen have the pattern # on the back of the tang. I think that one is genuine. The font on the shield is correct, and the newer remakes have an elliptical shield. I have a genuine Schrade NY USA and it looks exactly like that one, but mine is post 1973, but barely post.

I think if I was looking for one, they could be found cheaper elsewhere. He usually gets top dollar for his stuff.
