I had the chance to handle a buddy's Spec Ed Steel Heart and it seems lighter than my Ratweiler or M6.

I dont know, what weighs more, a pound of Infi or a pound of SR101?
HAHAHAHHAHHAA...

It's actually an interesting question. Are there any knives you want to compare between the two lines? RatWeiler vs. FSH? Need a little more to go on...

I would think they would be the same...or to close to tell.

But I've been wrong before, thats for sure.

It is official... one pound of INFI weighs EXACTLY the same as one pound of SR101. ;)

Your friends knife is clearly fake INFI. Because I am a nice guy, tell him I would take it off his hands for $100, or trade it for a Cold Steel Tanto.

The ASH-1 SE is definitely a smaller knife than the RatWeiler. Not sure that is a good comparison on steel weight versus knife weight...

Exact weight does not mean same volume. For example KAAK could weigh 300 solid muscle. Big? Hell ya! 55 inch waist? Hell no! Perfect example:D:D:D

*Any resemblance to actual events, locales, or persons, living or dead is coincidental.

All I gotta say is that when I got my first FBM I was really surprised how light the box was. When I pulled it out of the box it was a huge sharp chopping machine. But light!

Of course, is he talking 'bout the Special Edition (Fusion) Steel Heart which mic's at .320" or the Special Edition (Anniversary) Steel Heart (One) which mic's @ 0.2255"?? :D

Nope... He's talking about Ironklad's ASH-1 he picked up at Blade. The HOFSH SE is WAY heavier than a RatWeiler. I have all 3 and held them last night. :D

since the main constituents in most steels are Iron and Mg with some Chrome, the difference in their densities would be literally imperceptable to your hand.

what you are feeling is the balance of the blade. For example, my CG FBM feel heavier than my FBM LE, yet it is in fact lighter, but the balance point is out further on the knife so it feels heavier.

Cobalt's got it.

The mass differences for the same volume of steel would be perceptible only to laboratory instruments. We're talking differences like one part in ten to the eighth - 12th power!
