Is INFI patented?

There was also mention of selling INFI to other makers for them to use in knives after it was patented. It worked out good with Talonite.

I read an old review of the Battle Mistress that mentioned that Busse was keeping the details of INFI's composition and manufacturing process secret until it was patented. Was this patent ever granted?

A quick, lame search of the patent database doesn't show anything issued to Busse, or any pending applications.

I hope it is! and if so they can sell some to other knife makers and in doing so we can all have a folder sooner than we would if we waited for the Busse. I`ve used a lot of different folders over the year and have never had their locks fail me. I use mainly Buck 110 and 500 series knives. they don`t stay sharp very long but good knives just the same. Now if I had one with a Infi blade I`ed be grin`en like a opossum eating persimmons

Even if you got the INFI, you wouldn't get the JERRY.

Nimrod, that is a fact.

Even if you could get your hands on some, you'd have to send it to Jerry for the heat and cryo treating.

Kahlus, man... a big INFI buck 110 folding hunter would be cool.

Recently there was a thread that had the composition of INFI... Can't recall it right now... somebody set me straight...

chiseen, wonder if the elemental composition of Carling Black Label revealed itself scientifically?

I'm not sure if INFI is patented or not. INFI's chemical analysis was posted a really long time ago IIRC. Remember, though, without Busse's heat treat and cryo treat, INFI's just not as great :D

Also, I wonder how they get that nitrogen in :)

Reports have shown that if you take a pint of Guiness and pour it over a piece of steel being ground to keep it cool, the nitrogen will be absorbed by the steel and the runoff that hits the floor can actually be rebottled:eek:

Bootleggers that were caught selling the stuff were blacklisted, so they started covering the original Guiness label with black paint, hence the name "Black Label":p:D

Your's in New Clear Scientific INFIrmation,

Kev;)

Nimrod, I think I'll let my mouth do the testing! :D

(swoosh) (swoosh) tastes like my Satin Jack, but cold.... :D

We know one thing for sure. CBL does not add to the cost
of INFI!! $3.99 a case:rolleyes: ;) :p
