Is it blade play or blade flex?

I was recently using my Spyderco Tenacious to break down some cardboard and such. After that, I went to wipe down the blade and while doing that, I noticed there was a tiny amount of horizontal movement near the pivot area. This is my heavy user beater knife and I have had issues with it in the past. I went on and grabbed the blade tip, and the movement was more increased but not dramatically. Now I know that the blade pivot couldn't have loosened as I used blue loctite on it. I checked on the pivot with my screwdriver to see if it somehow did loosen, but I was feeling the loctite doing its job.

My question is would this be considered side to side play or blade flex? Is there a way to distinguish side to side blade play from blade flex?

To differentiate flex from play you could try to see if the little gaps of light between the blade and the handles of your knife (provided by the washers) get bigger or smaller depending on which way you push. If you can easily see changes in the sizes of the gaps I would say its probably play, where as flex would most likely be occurring further down the blade or in the handles them selves which should still reflect a null change in the gaps of light.
