Is it Feasable to Satin Finish a BB/DC Blade?

I get the concept of stripping the coating off of CG blades, and then polishing to a satin finish, but how does this work (or not work, lol) on a BB/DC blade?

The DC/BB's are taken to 'near satin' prior to the bead blasting.

Going the other way should be a breeze ! A lot easier than modding a coated blade.

George,

You can definitely do a satin finish from BBDC. Probably even less work than other coatings.

It won't be bad at all, but Ban has said before not to be surprised to find that the BB hides some grind marks here and there. It probably won't be as perfectly smooth as it seems.

I like the BB finish on Not as rust resistant blades because it holds oil MUCH better! But dont really have to worry about that on INFI really.

Hi Balisinger

It's very possible, here is a sage Skinny that was done for me by Tinbasher, my friend in WA Australia. I don't think he did it by hand though, I'm sure he had tools. I'll PM him and request that he shares some knowledge

I'd say the DC blades should be even easier.

That one is hand rubbed to remove all the dimples and grind marks, took just on three hours a side but you could just paint strip and get it bead blasted if you wanted to.
The handle on this one was hand rubbed a little then polished on the buff.

Tin does great work. Too bad for us that he's all the way over in Oz. Great for the Downunder Razorbacks, though.
