Is it just me, or is Firefox 3 a real dog?

Downloaded it yesterday, what a mistake! Slower that molasses in January, pages take forever to load. Plus, the new interface makes it look like an IE7 wannabe, what's up with that? Anyone else here among the 8 million who downloaded it yesterday, and if so, is my experience normal or abnormal?

Yes it was slow. The funny thing is that it got faster when I allowed the cookies.

Now its ok but I keep going back to WE .

It has been lightning fast, and very stable, on all of my systems for the past 6 months (beta tester). Love it!

its been lightning fast on my system. I can open a picture thread and all the images in the thread pop up way faster than before, almost instantly.

I just downloaded it, and it is zippy quick to use. Pages load fast. Just my experience.

Seems to work as fast if not a bit faster than Safari on OS X Tiger. Pictures seem to look clearly on Firefox than Safari, both of whihc are light years ahead of the AOL browser in that department.

give avant browser a try. it loads really fast for me. i have been using it for years and havent had one bit of trouble. you can even disable scripts, activex and a few other items which make pages load faster too. i hardly get any spyware since i usually have everything but pictures disabled.

Glad to hear my experience is not the norm. Wish I knew why it's not working well for me. Had been running FF almost exclusively for over a year, really liked it and always kept it updated to the latest version. Used it a while Tuesday evening, downloaded and installed FF3, made absolutely no other changes to my computer. Tried opening one website I visit regularly, would not load. Tried a number of others, either took 10-20 seconds for the first page to load, or timed out with an "unable to connect" error page, or said "done" on the status bar, but displayed a blank white page. Same deal ever since. IE7 works fine, so I don't think it's my cable provider's or ISP's fault. Nothing fancy for websites; this place, my local newspaper, the weather channel, my one bank, a couple other knife related forums, google, ebay, and IMDB. Just removed all my add-ons and themes, most of were disabled anyway since they were not compatible with FF3, no effect. Am using IE7 for now, but wish I could either figure this out, or revert to FF2.x - really wish it was like Netscape where you could have multiple versions installed on one machine.

You might want to see if you have the latest version of Java.
Had 1.5.0.11, took your suggestion and installed 1.6.0.06. May have made a bit of difference, but page load times are still excessive (8 seconds to load the Google home page, vs near instant with FF2 or IE7, 15-20 to load this site vs 2-4 with either of the others) and still getting frequent time outs (but FF2 did that quite a bit too). Tried safe mode, that did not help. Have rebooted, several times in fact, that did not help.
