Is it just me? Sage AD weigh more than Muddy AD?

My Muddy AD measures .196" and the Sage AD measures .200". The Sage also looks visibily thicker than the Muddy at the Spine, although it is only .004" difference in thickness.

The Sage also feels chunkier and heavier than the Muddy. Is it just me or an illusion? I don't have a way of weighing the two. Does anyone else with both of them experience this as well?

OKAY....how about a couple of pics to help move this discussion along? ;)

The lighter colored blade contrasted with the dark handle on the Sage, vs. the darker blade and lighter handle on the muddy might create an optical illusion making the sage look thicker.

If no one else does first, I'll measure them both with my calipers when I get home tonight and post the results.

I was also thinking there must be an optical illusion effect coming into play. The Sage does actually measure a bit thicker....even in the slabs.

It is not you. I felt the same thing. The sage scales appear to be slightly thicker and they are what is heavy anyway. I was amazed at how light the skelly wardens were. Felt like aluminum.

I received two Sage's recently, and the micarta handle seems thicker on one and feels heavier.

I actually wonder if there is also more resin in the black micarta from this batch that make them significantly heavier than the tan micarta. It is also much darker than most other black micartas I've seen. I really like it.

I only have a digi postage scale. Must be kind of accurate being it measures postage. Sage comes in at 6.5 oz, one Muddy is 6.3, and another Muddy is 6.4. The 6.3 & 6.4 could be a hair breath away from both being 6.3, or both 6.4, if you know what I mean. I don't have an accurate way to measure thickness. TC

I do like this Black Micarta myself. It is darker than the standard, which has more Grey. TC

Between the two, I pick the muddy and that really surprised me (never been a fan of the brown in the pics). It feels better in my hand and is by far my favorite. I showed them to several people (one of whom just had to have it) and although I said nothing about it, everyone that I showed them to picked the muddy as their favorite. Strange. Wish I had bought more!!!

I hazard to guess what an Off Duty or even Heavy Duty feels like. The Sage Duty to me already feels like a spike. I like it....lots of heft to it.
