Is it just me who's crazy?

Ya know, a couple of weeks ago I thought Sebenza was a city in Poland (is it Sergiusz?) Now I can't wait to have one. What happened here?

I always carried a knife around in one form or another, but now after falling in with this crowd, my Christmas list is filling up with names like Benchmade, Spyderco, etc.

Did this condition onset everybody like this, or is it just Cold Steel and flu season?

Glad to be here.

I think it happens to all of us. When I first found the forum, I thought Sebenza was a South African "flu"---now I know it is! Weird words like "BG42" now creeps into my vocabulary. The only momentary cure is "touchy and feel" then BUY, BUY, BUY--

The bad news, the longer you stay here, the crazier you get. Wait until your on a first name basis with some of the Top Makers in the world, and you find out there's nothing they can't do. Then there's the Dealers just throwing knives at you for free just to get your attention. Then there's the our Fellow Members that buy knives like they're Bill Gates. Meanwhile I've forgotten about keeping up withthe Jones's I'm trying to keep up with the Simpson's.

Get out now while you can.

Welcome aboard and HOLD on tight, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

Your post reminded me of a bumbersticker:

It IS as BAD as you think, and they ARE out to get you.

Sebenzas are a way of life...sort of

Here's another example of how bad it can get.
While I'm responding to you, a fellow Forum Member e-mails me that my favorite custom maker (Ed Fowler) has three knives available at NorthWestKnives. Now, my friend knows I'm out of work, I can't be buying knives for for $700-$1200, but he's doing me a favor, right?
I've never been to that site before, now I've got it saved to my Favorites, along with another 100+ knife related sites. It's a NIGHTMARE! Get thee behind me SATAN, and don't PUSH! Get out while you can!

The Sebenza may not be an African flu, but it's every bit as contagious.

Velitrius, I feel your pain. I've been onboard here at Bladeforums for only about two weeks and the UPS man just pulled up to the office not an hour ago with my small Sebenza. Thanks to Fred at Knife Outlet for the fast and friendly service. The bare patch on my forearm and the fact that I'm typing this with one hand because I can't stand to put it down should tell you all you need to know about this little gem.

I would blame the forums but I was infected long before I ever got here. Then again this is a little like a Leper colony. If you weren't infected when you came in you will be by the time you get out. My recommendation is simple either turn tail and run as far and as fast as you can; or, sit back and enjoy the ride.

Hey, thanks a bunch for your input. Okay, here goes the coin toss.....

Heads. Looks like I'll stick around. (Pun intended) Divorce court, here I come!!!!

I've been into knives a while now and no one has been able to relate (ect. my wife). There was one guy at work with a Buck pocket knife, but ask him about a Sebenza, or an Emerson and he will give you a blank look

. A month ago I got on-line and found BForums, AH. I can't say you guys have saved me any money, but I love all of you!

So if we have 5,000 + crazy people here, what does that make me or Spark?

If BF were a drug, you'd be pushers.

As it is you force us to buy new knives by letting us see how excited everyone else is about their new knife.

I have had a fascination with knives from a very early age. Risidual genes from the cave man days? I came to the forums to find "one" good utility pocket knife. Now I have two and a ton I want. I was in controll until I found a local retailer who carries alot of the great knifes I have read about here. He is expecteng some sebenza's in. Reel me in, I'm primed for the frying pan!

Mike and spark are more like keepers at the Zoo. They have to keep feeding us and cleaning up the messes we make. Other than that, they pretty much let us do what we want. Thank-you.

The longer you have the "Blade Bug", the worse it gets... if you've read down this far, it's probably already a hopeless case. Sometimes even contagious as well. Tell your friends... (insert maniacal laughter here)
