is it just me or has anyone else noticed that all of our avatars are slowwing down the response time on the forum?

the pages are loading a lot slower and that is the only thing I can think of that is the most recent change.:confused:
 
I didn't really notice. But then again whenever something is slow to load I usually blame my finicky dial up service that gives me different rates everytime I log on:mad:
 
...involved to blame it on just one thing. Amount of traffic at any given time is the main culprit, and not just on BladeForums. These servers are used by other users, and their traffic can effect slowdowns here. I'm on a putzy little 56k modem, and can run like lightning one visit and molasses in January the next. Routing between your ISP and here runs you through ? number of servers, as well, and their traffic can have an effect. It's a crap game.:D
 
I cleaned up my disc and defragged it as well a couple of days ago when things started slowing down for me. It didn't seem like it had been all that long ago since I had cleaned and defragged, but it really made a difference in my speed on here.
Walosi's right on with what he said though.
Come hay'ill or highwater the best I could get on yesterday with the increased traffic was 28,000 bps, about the same speed I used to get with my old WebTV sometimes.
I hooked up with 38,666 first thing this morning so didn't try for anything faster. Usually if I connect and disconnect about 3-4 times I can get a much faster hookup online.
Southwestern Bell doesn't guarantee anything over the 28,000 bps in this area unless you hook up to their DSL line and web service.
Still sounds fishy to me.

Dayum the day the politicians decided to bust up AT&T as a monopoly!!!!!
Remeber when a phone was only $4.95 a month and long distance didn't hardly run you over $20- $30 a month?!?!?!?!?
And these days the Dayumed phone Alone is that much or More!!!! Bastids they are!!!!!
