Is it legal for a dealer to purchase automatics in NY?

Hi all, I was given a huge collection of automatics that belonged to my friend who passed away. His wife asked me to sell them for her. I have been trying online, but just learned that it's illegal to ship them across state lines...even to a state where possession is allowed. I live in NY and they are illegal except you CAN carry one while hunting or fishing. If I can't mail them, could a knife dealer legally buy them? Kind of like how an ffl holder can buy assault weapons etc?

You can possess them for use while fishing/hunting/trapping if you have a DEC license for those sports. Sale is illegal, but there is an allowance for dealers that sell them to police and other authorized persons. Look up NYS PL 265.00, and 265.20. There are many FFL holders would buy and then sell them to police. The law does not clearly say who can sell them, but the FFL holders seem to be the only ones that do it freely without much concern. NYC is not a place you would want to sell them. Many dealers will not be interested in them as there are only limited customers that can buy then. What part of NY are you in? Normal knife dealers are not really authorized or at least it is not clear they are as per the law.

Nothing productive to add other good luck and those laws are so ridiculous it makes me angry.
