Hi, im new in this whole knife laws things and i want to know is it legal to carry a real battle ready katana in the back seat of your car? im really fond of martial arts weapons and i take kendo n such so i was wondering if its legal to carry it during your vacation when going out of state. I live in Georgia by the way. Thanks!

no clue man, but someone on her will be able to tell you or point you in the right direction. i am in tennessee by the way... God Bless the South!

tennessee is a communist state when it comes to KNIVES. we have great gun laws and i carry my glock about everywhere within the laws. but as far as blades go, i must carry EXACTLY 4inches or under or i go to jail for .... are you ready? GOING ARMED!!! lmao.

While I can't speak to Tn laws directly, most places frown upon large, fixed blades in the back seat (be they swords, machetes, etc.), so it's be better if you locked it in the trunk. Most jurisdictions see the enclosed cabin of a car (opr truck or van) as one space. For example, Texas has a open container law that prohibits an open container of alcohol in the front seat, in the back seat, tucked into a closed cooler, pretty much anywhere within arm's reach of the driver. Most states "illegal knife" laws pretty much are the same.

Besides, are you expecting to run into ninjas?
