Is it Normal to Have More Personal Care Products for Your Khukuris Than Yourself?

The thread about first posts got me thinking about my own first post to this forum, which was somewhere around the end of August. Since then, in addition to two khukuris, I have purchased a wide variety of khukuri care products: superglue, epoxy, Hooflex, Flitz, Tru Oil, and a wide array of sandpaper grits. Luckily I already had mineral oil, Sno-seal and shoe polish on hand, or I probably would have had to purchase those as well. Now I am out shopping for a good carnuba wax .

On the other hand, my own personal care products are fairly minimal: toothpaste, floss, deodorant, etc.-- everything would probably fit in a traveller's shaving kit. Is this normal? There should be a warning somewhere on this forum.

The key here is to focus on products that can be used for you AND your khuks. For example, I'd imagine toothpaste and a toothbrush would put a real fine shine on that AK after a trip to the woodpile. Then you follow it up with chapstick and you're set to go.

Now all we have to do is convince the Hooflex people to package the stuff so that we also can buy it in stick or roll-on form.

Josh, you can get by on an extended "camping trip" with nothing more than a tube of chapstik and a can of Kiwi boot polish. Both will fit in your shaving kit.

Sarge-- good point. I was kinda joking around a bit, just joshin' with y'all:D I was mostly poking fun at myself for babying what are probably the world's toughest knives.

Most of my khukuri care products will for last years and years, so it is no big deal. I think I've used about 1/1000 of my tub of Hooflex so far, and I apply it pretty regularly.

By the way, I like the chapstick idea a lot, and will have to try it one of these days.

Then, ask yourself the question: "Why would I look for a response to a "normal" question in this forum?"

sheez.

It is intuitively obvious to the most casual observer that I spend more time grooming my knives than grooming me.

I suppose if you used either on your 'arse everything would slide off and obviate the need for toilet paper. Now, the question is which one???

 :D
