Is it possible to blue damasteel?

I did a search but didn't turn up anything.

Have one of you crazy cats tried it.

my mother is a designer blacksmith and she just got some.

You don't actually get a "blue" color with damasteel. You get more of a rainbow effect. you have to use nitre bluing salts at 900 deg!! This is ok because the temper for damasteel is 900 deg.

I have seen it heat blued after being mirror polished first. The temperature was supposedly about 400F. The soft layer turned a golden brown and the hard layer was a vivid blue. Haven't done it myself though.
