Is it possible to get a free swinging blade on a large Inkosi?

Hey guys,

Finally got a Chris Reeve knife.
A large Inkosi
I love it.

Pretty stiff though, wanted to know what you guys do to tune the pivot for a free swinging blade or if that's only done on the 21 with the bushing.

Thanks,
Shawn

I just received a brand new large inkosi a week ago. It took about 4 days of use and repeated cycling until it would free fall. Another option would be to loosen your pivot screws just a hair, but make sure your blade stays centered if you go that route. And congrats on the new blade!

Thanks bruddah
Honest ?-Why?
I understand you want to get past stiff, but why do you want free falling?

The same reason my favorite color is orange. I just do:D

I like a faster blade with less friction.

Its an adjustable pivot design. Just clean it and not go as tight during reassembly.

:D I posted because I was hoping some guys had already geeked out and found some cool techniques and tips for tuning their Inkosi.

The only advice I have is to adjust the pivot with the blade at a 90 degree angle to the handle, which is common practice for me with washer type frame locks. The screw threads are fine and it may take a minute or two to adjust the pivot so the blade falls to the open position when the lock bar is moved completely away from the blade. The Inkosi is very easy to disassemble and adjust.

I wonder if after some flicking or several 100 x of opening the detent track will form and make it easier? Had a large 25 and for that very same reason i couldnt handle the stiffness to my liking. I didnt give it time to grow though. I can usually tell riht off the bat after handling it for a bit if its something that i like or will like.

I cleaned and lubed my small Inkosi last weekend and instead of using the CRK grease I used Shooters Choice all weather high tech grease (Just because it was close at hand) and my knife has never been so smooth , slick and now drops free easily.

A bit little bit of lube on the track will slick it up. CRK's (at least the ones I've owned) have a relatively heavy lock bar tension and detent. A tiny bit of pivot adjustment can make a big difference in smoothness of the 25 and Inkosi.
