Is it possible to lessen the retention of an plastic sheath?

I recently acquired a Meyerco CQB-1 fixed blade. Although I couldn't be happier with the knife itself, I am having some issues with the factory sheath. Retention is way too tight, it takes a fair amount of force to free the knife. Is there any way to lessen the retention of the sheath, or am I going to have to get a kydex one made. The factory sheath made from injection molded plastic and seems to be similar to Cold Steel's sheaths.

You could try to warm it up with a hair drier and spread it a bit and let it cool.
It works for me on Kydex but I'm not sure about plastic.
