Is it possible to remove microscratches from a stonewashed finish?

Hi guys,

I have a CRK Nyala that has alot of microscratches that run about 3/4 the length of the stonewashed blade from taking it in and out of a dirty sheath. They are quite noticeable because they catch light more than the rest of the blade. I use it as a hunting, fishing and camping knife so it isnt the end of the world because it is a user knife for me. Besides sending it to get restonewashed has anyone removed microscratches from a stonewashed blade with any success? If so how did you do it? Please provide pictures if possible! Thank you for your help.

This one needs a bump to the top.
Any of you well informed and ingenious CRK collectors/users have an answer to this one ?

Why get rid of the character marks? That is the only evidence you actually use your knife. Would you try to keep your leather motorcycle jacket looking new, or relish the evidence of 50,000 well traveled miles?

I use all if my crks and I never feel guilty about it. I like user marks but these were about 20 ugly long thin scratches from a dirty sheath. Not user marks with a story. I restonewashed the blade myself and it got rid of the scratches and it actually came out looking really good IMO.

I think I have read that people use various chrome or metal polishes. But I think if you did, you would have a more polished finish.

It's all those minute surface imperfections that scatter the light and give the surface the stone washed look. If you buffed/polished out a scratch you would might end up with a bright spot that you would need to treat again to get it back to stonewashed.

I always say, " every scratch you have on your sebenza is an adventure you had with your sebenza ". Use them and enjoy them. Can't take them with ya when your gone ( I am working on that one though ;) ).
