Is it possible to sharpen a Ginunting sword with a spyderco tri-angle sharpmaker?

Hi.

I bought a Ginunting-sword (from traditionalfilipinoweapons.com) and i wonder if its possible for me to sharpen this sword with a "spyderco tri-angle sharpmaker"?

I am worried that the shape of the blade and the edge will not work on the sharpening system since the edge is bent slightly backwards.

You can sharpen curved blades like that on a sharpmaker, but with the relatively tiny stroke versus 20 inches of blade you are going to be there a long time. There are several threads about making DIY sharpening setups using sandpaper and cylindrical objects, it would be worth doing a forum search.

That long of an inside curve you can sharpen with most normal sharpeners. A fine grained scythe stone ( one of the natural european ones) would be perfect, but I find regular stones work.
