Is it possible to source just ESEE/RAT scales?

many of the knife models are available w/ a variety scales- are they interchangeable (within a model)? are they available for sale?

if not, (assuming they are interchangeable) do guys ever exchange them- maybe a exchange thread??

they're hand fitted to the blades, so there can be variation from set to set. the 5 and 6 series use the same size, and i've seen those swapped. my two rc-3's fit eachother's scales pretty good, too.
 
Currently you can't get just the scales. I don't know if that will ever change, but that's the case now. Rowen fits every set of scales to the blade they're being put on and there's a possible fit and finish issue with making spare scales for customers. As far as "close enough" fitting, the ESEE-3 and ESEE-4 scales are almost identical with the exception of the liners and micarta thickness. However, if you have both the ESEE-3 and ESEE-4, the scales' outlines match up almost identical and the holes are drilled to the same spacing so you could use your 4 scales on a 3 and vice versa. The ESEE-5 and 6 scales are also like this. I've switched the scalles between my canvas handled 4 and my g10 handled 3 a couple of times and they fit fine. I saw pictures of TexasTonyDobbs's ESEE-6 and he had his ESEE-5 scales on it. So, if you have the knives already, you can change scales between them, but Neither Rowen nor ESEE sell just the scales by themselves. If there's a set of scales you want, you have to buy the whole knife.
 
^ interesting- wasn't really even thinking between models (but good to know that some exchange is possible :))- was mainly thinking within model line 3->3, 4->4, etc

if they are hand fitted I can certainly see the reluctance in selling scales on their own
