Is it possible to strop serrated edges?

I know how to sharpen serrated edges and I can get 'em pretty sharp but as I was sharpenin' my 50/50 Spyderco I stropped the straight edges and then I wondered if it was possible to strop the serrated edge without destroyin' my leather strop.

So before I destroyed my strop I figured I'd ask here first, so what do you guys think?

Here is my strop for serrated knives.

If I was more ambituous, I would have twisted those leather strings... good enough for now

I first strop the blade on a flat strop. Then I have a chopstick and a bamboo skewer that I have infused with green compound and WD-40. I use those to strop each serration individually after having sharpened each one individually with a either a slip or my brand new DMT serrated sharpening steels.

I strop serrations on the corner of my strop. I think I picked that up on here somewhere.

Most serrations are only cut into one side of the blade, chisel-style. I steel the back side and it straightens them up nicely.
Another way is to use a leather bootlace. (Easy for carry in the field :) )

Thanks for the quick replies folks, I like the leather shoelace idea and I gotta make one of those boards, that looks handy.

I was wonderin' if a buffin' wheel would do the same or just be more dangerous?

I would use the edge of the paper wheel is much safer + not rounding the edge. There are too many reasons for not using the buffer wheel ...

I took a piece of veg tanned leather (2" by about 8" - 1/8"thick) ,put it in boiling water 30 seconds to "harden" it.
When it's dry , I put green compound on the edge and stop away from the cutting edge in the serrations grooves.
Works pretty well. I tried with my powered buffer ( 6"wheel )... the edge of the wheel is too big , but a dremel didn't work too bad with a small ,conical abrasive-embedded wheel.

oolenoo wanted me to completely remove the serrations but i buffed them back into shape. you never want to grind on the backside of a serrated edge. if you do that a few times you will not have any serrations left. the edge will not cut as well as the factory chisel ground serrations.

Thanks for all the advice, one thing I've always wanted to try was the paper wheels, I gotta pick up a set of wheels what's the goin' price on a set of wheels?

you can get them at any woodcraft store or order them through grizzly imports. were you ever in the military? send me an email if you were and i'll tell you something that will save you some money on a set.
