Is it safe to DIY stonewash my knife scales?

Hey guys, i recently purchased a Boker Epicentre and I don't really like the bead blasted finish on the handle scales and I'd like to stonewash it.

I've stonewashed knife blades before, but never handle scales.

Has anyone done this before and will it damage the scales? Are there any precautions I need to take?

Thanks so much

I've done a set of stainless scales and it turned out well. I don't see a problem as long as there are no small parts attached that may get damaged.

Yep, there are several parts to protect before you throw it into the stumbler: Lockbar interface, holes for the pivot screws. Show us your work when you get it done. Btw I'd like to know how the knife feels in hand and how's the lockup? is it wearing too fast or developing any blade play?

thanks so much for the responses guys, Im going to start on it on wednesday after I finish my shift.
Hiw should I protect the parts? do I duct tape it or something?

DaoHung15, I got the second production run so the problems were fixed, and the lockbar is great and no blade play has developed after 1 week of use. feels ergonomic but it is pretty heavy.
