Is It Time For a Becker Necker/Eskabar Folder?

Now that Rowen Manufacturing (they make the ESEE's) has started to manufacture the DPx line of knives, and has introduced an interesting folder, the DPx H*E*A*T with a 2.24" blade, and ESEE introducing a Izula folder sometime this lifetime, perhaps a Becker line of folders patterned off the Necker/Eskabar line might be in order. For those of you with the skills and programs that allow you to draw up such a design, show us what you think it may or should look like. What say you?

You better hope Unlce E doesn't see this thread. Its a very sore subject with him.

And there are some artistic renderings floating around here (some damn nice ones I might add)

I recall when Ethan was out here at BeckerWest, Abrasion asked the very same question. And Ethan and I both...at the same time, said....."Really, you had to bring that up?" It was funny, the look on Abrasion's face....and the backpedalling, LOL

And, in short, no. It was tried, attempts were made, for the price point it wasn't a feasible operation. Moose might catch this and throw his pics of the protos up, and invariably someone will post up the renderings bob did, but at the end of the thread the answer is going to still unfortunately be no, not happening.

Where is dawsonbob when you need him?

Actually, between the DPx and ESEE stuff, I think I'd be hard-pressed to want to pick up a Becker folder, now. I know...if it was made, I'd get it, but they are satisfying the "need" for now.

Knifeworks has an ESEE Zancudo folder listed, with a really unbelievably low MSRP listed. I'm wondering if that's the Izula folder or some other project we don't know about...

I am not certain, but I believe Dbob wasn't a "spring chicken" and also had several health concerns that ultimately lead to his absence. We did have one Beckerhead have a custom folder commissioned in an attempt to achieve a BK2 folder similar to the Dbob rendering, just with a little more panache'. I don't appear to have that link handy however.

EDIT:

Here was one of the pics of one of the protos. Mooses pic I believe.

And here is a link to the custom folder someone had made: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/921402-Finally-Got-My-BK2-Folder!!!

That's not happy news, I'm sure....his renderings of a folder are outstanding.

I'm pretty sure DawsonBob has passed on. I don't have confirmation, but the last word that we heard, wasn't good, and that was last year.

As to the folder, Kabar wants to make a BKT folder, but the hard part is Made in USA and affordable.

Until then, I carry a ZT knives, Hogue knives, and Cold Steel.

My main EDC is a Zero Tolerance ZT0350 blem I got from kershawguy.com. The blems don't have a warranty, but they're only $95 compared to $140+. Before that it was a kershaw clash and before that it was a CRKT M16, those are good blades and, depending on the model, not expensive. My only Cold Steel folders are a Rajah II and a Pocket Bushman so I don't carry them unless I'm in the woods but they're good knives. I'd like to get a Rajah III and a XL voyager and a couple from the recon 1 line.

That BK prototype is sweet.
When it comes to folders I'm cheap. I carry an Ontario Rat1, or an Opinel#8.
Now if a folder like that prototype was made, and was a reasonable price, I'd have to buy it.
But, between my 11, 14, and Leatherman, I seldom have a need to carry a folder anyways.
