It's always time for Huntin' Knives!
Fall is in the air. I'm thinkin' 'bout back straps! :D
Anyway, I had this here chunk of stabilized spalted Oak that was just itchin' to get on a hunting knife and a lloooooooooooooooong list of customers wanting one, so I ended up with this:
A W1 tool steel blade with some hamon treatment, a 416 guard and some very cool spalted oak from Chuck Bybee. (Jessica - actually)
Take-down for clean up.
This will make a great field companion this Fall.

NICE hunter, Karl.
This spalted oak looks great and the indents on the sides of the guard
seem like a good idea for pinch grip on scalpel like precise cutting chores.
That it's a take-down, even cooler.

I appreciate the kind words.
Those are not indents. I've been rolling the leading outside edge of my knives with single guards for 15 years.
It makes a smoooooooooooth entry into the sheath. ;)
And I do understand the easy confusion with that thing guys are doing by divoting out the guard.
Mine are not concave - but convex. Lighting sometimes makes it hard to tell the difference.
Here is an easy display of how I do mine:
