I didn't see a Friday post, so I'll get it started. Family party Saturday, Sunday kicking back in the pool, eating crabs, and generally kicking back. If it doesn't rain Saturday, probably out cutting grass all morning Saturday.

Packing all weekend. Have three weeks before we move into the new house and way too much to do! I will sadly be closing up my shop this weekend, which means no making until well into july by the time things get set up. I have one knife 75% done thats awful nice, so i may sneak that one in.

If anything, i will continue experimenting with differentially heat treated guards. I have been playing with water quenched clay treated guards. Ive had some spectacular patterns so far, but lots of cracks near the tang slot.

I had one really nice success, and it will be going on a very special knife I have planned....ive never seen hamons in guards before, so perhaps i'll be the first? Doubtful....

cutting out and shaping 2 more blades in ats34
getting ready to heat treat about 15 next week got to have them all ready
also got to work over time at real job due to having monday off
butch

Going to a friends to play on his coal forge..Been a while since I played with a coal fire. Going to weld up a couple cable billets.....Hopefully.

Playing with my new tongs and hammer - finally able to work with the 3/4" thick 5160 pieces that my brother-in-law's friend gave me. It was impossible without decent tongs.

I am determined to make some nice things from this stuff, it's taking forever though.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Equipment auction on Saturday maybe and stuff around the house. I'd like to re-HT a blade and finish it up, but I don't know how realistic that is...

Probably going for my usual ATV ride on Saturday.
Might try to squeeze in a caving trip.

I always sound like a dodo but weekends aren't much more fun than the weekdays. I have flintlocks to box and ship (That never seems to end). I have paperwork to do. I want to take my mountain bike out but have to rebuild a wheel. The grass needs mowing....
and I have another hatchet to rough out and start testing.

Damn Don sounds like one hell of a weekend compared to mine
i'm gonna be cooking like a mad man all weekend in a very very hot kitchen!

whats with the flintlocks anyway?

Well since the storm knocked my computer out at midnight last night I got to finish my take home exam at 6:00 this morning. Then I went and turned that in and went to work. Was there for about 11 hours today and we're planning on working tomorrow too. Maybe I'll get some time in my shop on sunday

Forgot to say, dance recital ALL day tomorrow with my wifes parents staying for the weekend. At least I will get to cook some. Glad there was time today to do some heating and pounding.

I like seeing you making stuff and getting the deals going. Post on the patch knife whenever....no rush. Don't forget I'm going to want that .62 in that other bulk buy you got going. I got one of Don's Box Locks coming and a but plate from Ingram. It's going slow but I will get this thing built. I'm planning to make a rifleman's knife to match. I got one of Chucks video's coming so I can get my sheaths up to speed. Should make for a good combo.
I got a question on under hammers but I'll put it over there.
