Is it true, Spyderco Schempp Rock?

Hey just noticed a new Schempp fixed blade being refered to as the Schempp Rock with
VG10 and looks like a different grind then the Rock Salt. As far as apprearance it looks exactly the same. Can't seem to find any info on this. Anyone know the low down? I didn't even hear any rumors about this.
 
It's true, has been in the works for a while, and should be out fairly soon. As you noticed, it's basically a remake of Ed's Rock Salt with a different grind and steel.
 
They are in and should be shipping soon. We made the new model more like the original custom that Ed made for me. It is a nice piece. While different than the H1 version, I'm sure you will find the performance quite acceptable.

I haven't been this excited since I heard about the Navaja --- I'll be buying one {or two } of these !!!!
 
I'm really excited for this one. I sold my Rock Salt like a fool and now I have been wanting one back ever since. I just really wish there was one more sprint run (or more) in H1.
 
Jim Howe says he's getting them in on Wednesday and shipping mine out on Thursday. I've been searching for an original H1 Rock Salt for a while so I'm happy to settle for the VG-10 Schempp Rock as it seems to be next to impossible to find a Rock Salt (aside from Country Knives and there full MSRP)...still hoping to find a Rock Salt (new or used). I guess I like the idea of a 100% rust proof camp knife, plus the hallow grind looks a lot nicer.
 
As long as we're on the subject of this knife, I've heard some stories about the FRN sheath for the original Rock Salt causing the blade to become dulled when the edge wears through the nylon exposing the fiberglass (as the rumor goes). Is there anything to this? Or hopefully this nonsense. Sal, if you're watching this thread still, any info would be appreciated
 
Wow. The price of the Rock is pretty reasonable. Seems like the only difference between the VG-10 version and the H-1 version is the grind. Am i wrong?
Anyone owns the rock salt? How's the sheath?

I became a Spydie fan within the last year and now I'm craving a Rock Salt - too late. I would love to see a sprint.
