ESkabar 35$ :thumbup::)
micarta handles 38$ :thumbup::)

Shipping 46$ over seas, its ok

I have been told by people I was going to order from over there in Europe that it would be better to find a local dealer because the price was going to be really high. I do know there is at least one seller who carries Becker products in the UK, would that cost you less ordering from there?

How did you get 13 smiley's in your post? I thought the limit was 10. :p

I've gotten some Moras, a Spyderco (before the UK Pen Knife was available over here), and some penny whistles from the UK.
Shipping was a little high but that was about it. No customs fees. At the time I got the UK Pen Knife, the exchange rate helped out.

I would like to get one or two of those Ray Mears Mora 510's with the green handles, but shipping is crazy for one knife.
I wonder if there might be any interest in a group buy to deflate the shipping cost.

Yes, if i order something within europe, there is no custom fees, but i didnt look for a dealer here, but it would be nice to know one.

If I get an item shipped to me from the U.S. by UPS etc, I get bent over with brokerage fees. If I request shipping by USPS (Unted States Postal Service), I can avoid the brokerage fees. But I doubt that any of this info would help you... Actually I pay about 5-10 bucks more per knife (aprox) than in the U.S. by buying from an in country vendor, avoiding wait times, shipping costs, customs wait time and hassles, on and on. It's worth it to me.

A BK2 costing $236 would never be bought. No, its not worth it. I would find a local dealer, a closer dealer, or just start using HELLE knives instead. I bought a hand made Khukuri knife from Nepal, the knife cost $35, and $40 to ship. I'm cool with that. A $50 knife for 5x the price is rediculous. What if someone bought it and shipped it to you? Would there still be that kind of price hike. Damn, that's alot.

I have shipped items all over the world why was your shipping so high if you ordered everything from one store shipping should have been $20 us or less. As for customs that stinks but there is no way around them

yes, i can get away from fees, but only if the shipper puts down the value on the package less than 75$ or send it as a gift, but not many companys do that, and yes if a friend sends the package i could probably get it without customs fees, if i just had any close friends in US;);)

Buddy, you got a whole room full of friends here in the Becker clubhouse. We are a friendly bunch.

Most dealers only ship insured packages with tracking - which rules out USPS Priority Mail Intl. and gets us to Express Mail International which starts at about $30. UPS and Fedex aren't cheaper either.
It gets more expensive if you're shipping large and/or heavy knives.

About customs: The custom fee on knives should be 8.5% within the EU.
In Germany they collect that if the value exceeds 150EUR-about $195.
The really annoying part (IMHO) is that they're always charging something similar to the VAT on the total value if it exceeds 20 EUR - and this is 19% in GER.

Buying from a dealer in Europe isn't really cheaper - I guess they don't buy large amounts and that way they probably pay quite a lot too which results in an uncomfortable pricing...

@ IZULA:
If you have a free amount of $75 in sweden I would have tried to buy the bk2 and escabar seperately and tried to get them shipped via USPS priority mail international (~$14). If you buy stuff from the secondary US market it's usually cheaper and you just tell the person how you would like to have it shipped.
Of course - insured and with tracking is safer but.. it's not really worth it to me.

//edit & PS.: were you aware of these custom fees when you placed you order or did the mail man surprise you with the customs receipt? If so... that sucks..

BK2 130$ and Eskabar 68$ and shipping on that, its thesame horrible price i paid with my custom fees in sweden.

No, maybe you two should work out some foreign blade exchange program, off the forums of course, just as a matter of pitting American and Swedish steel against one another in the others natural habitat. Consider it an experiment, off the discussion forums of course.

If you want american knives at amercian prices, you need to move to the US. Thats the way it is. I paid about 250USD for my Spyderco DKPK, that was bought from Spyderco in Golden, Colorado. Dont even ask what my CRK Shadow cost me :( (shipping alone was 65 USD)

Ive been wanting to buy a BK12, but itll also run up in + 250 USD, so ive forgotten about that.

Dont forget that the swedish minimum wage is alot higher than in the US. Thus it makes sense that things are cheaper over in the US.

anyway, i now have 2 new knives that im happy with and prob they will serve me well in the woods :thumbup:
