is micro pitting common in high carbon steel?

is it common for high carbon steel to have a micro pitting texture to it?

Not generally. Give us some more info. What steel? forged? new? ect.

The only time I have had pitting is when I used a venturi that concentrated the heat in one area. With a blown forge it is not happening now. You can reduce it some by moving the blade around while in the forge. Heat pitting is a PITA to grind out and I struggled with that for months until I stopped using a venturi.
