Is most BM black hardware painted stainless?

I have some newer BM knives, and a few have wear on things like the pocket clip, pivot screw, etc. The hardware on these knives is black. Does anyone know whether ALL their hardware is stainless steel? Or do they use carbon steel, and coat / paint over?

I'd like to know, because that would affect how I might touch up, or refinish the worn pieces.

Should be all stainless. If I had to guess 420 stainless, maybe 300 series. The coatings are black oxide which is the matte (not shiny) and the painted (shiny).
 
Thanks! I added another "good" scratch to the pocket clip this weekend...so it's about time to fix the thing up.
 
Just let it get scratched up, it's going to happen anyway. If you need a new clip down the road, simply call them and ask for one.
 
To be perfectly honest, I'd rather have it in natural stainless. So, I'll likely strip that paint, and add a brushed finish. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't removing paint on an otherwise less stain-resistant metal.
