Is my 20.5 working correctly? (video)

Hi all, first post. I got my 20.5 a couple of days ago and am experiencing some hitches in the action that I didn't expect. Occassionally, well, a bit more often than that I guess, the lock will kind of seize up when the blade is deployed and it takes extra pressure to snap the shark lock back. And I'm also noticing I need to kind of hook the lock with my finger to lift the sharklock tab slightly up/out as well as back to fully disengage the blade. Can any Taiwan 20.5 owners confirm this is/isn't normal?
See video and images of lock face below.

Ha, litterally just found this video by John Demko explaining the lock moves up as well and not just back. That case is closed I suppose, just hope the sticking is resolved. I really want to install the micarta scales when they arrive but want to make sure i have a good knife before I void any warranties.

over time the sticking will stop. have 2. one was sticking, other wasn't. I assume it is due to tolerances. where some of them do and some dont.

but yeah up and back or back and up can't remember and dont have it near me right now.

Good to know, appreciate the info. I'll take your word for it and try to break it in. And also enjoy the hell out of my ad-15 (why weren't any reviewers opening that thing one handed with the ease and speed it is capable of?! grip the scorpion lock and pop it open and closed all day with the flick of a wrist) in the mean time and eagerly await a chance to get an AD20 when they drop again. New to Demko knives but I am fully converted now.

Welcome. The sticking could be caused by the way you open the knife. The knife is on bearings so it should need just a light flick to fully open.
Ya! I tried popping it open hard a couple of times to see if that was the catalyst, but it seems to seize up at random, in fact it just happened with a very gentle fold out. It happened a few times this afternoon after making that video. :I I tried to apply a little oil between the locking mechanism and frame to make sure it wasn't sticking in there. Still seems to happen like every 50th flick. But you're right, it doesn't need a lot of flick and I'll try to be gentle on it.

I would hold the knife vertical and then slightly rotate it down about 5 or 10 degrees from vertical and see how it closes from that position. I have seen several videos like that along with the one you posted and it seems to close easier than holding it horizontal like you did. Thanks for the video from Demko, I was not aware of that one. I have a couple of AD20.5 models. It seemed like the more I opened and closed the knife(s) the easier it works. I expect the materials wear in with some use. I think demko has pretty good service so if you are really concerned then contact them.

A couple of videos in this post:
