I recently bought a benchmade 940 from blade hq and I noticed the axis lock was very stiff to use. Maybe its because its new and needs to be broken down but the other issue i have with my knife being genuine or not is that it doesnt have the benchmade.com/pat underneath the osborn logo stamped on the blade, it doesnt have anything below the osborne logo at all. everything else checks off with being real besides that(searched alot of threads on the 940 and watched alot of videos pointing out differences between a real 940 and a fake). Im just worried because this is my first knife i bought that was over a 100 dollars and this one was close to 200 so for comfort id like to know if you guys think if its real or not. EDIT: fixed my problem, called benchmade and they no longer put the patent on the blade. just had me worried it could be a fake thank you guys

They’re a great dealer so no worries there. But if this is your first over 100 dollar knife and you are getting this worried do yourself a favor send it back. I would send it back and ask for another one. Kinda silly but you are going to get a lot of answers here and you’ll still wonder. Also pictures help so much in these kind of threads.

I have a 940-2 purchased from bladehq and mine has the benchmade.com/pat under the Osborne logo. Bladehq is a great dealer, I highly doubt you got a fake from them.

I would attribute your problem with benchmade's quality control issues. If it bothers you send it back.

It was mentioned in another thread that BM no longer print the patent number on their axis knives because it has expired. I dont know if it is true though. I would suggest you to call BM Customer Service first.

Thank you guys for all the replies. And yes Sharp, I was just on the phone with benchmade and they no longer put the patent on their blades for the 940 any longer
