Is my blade special?

Those look like the ones that were experimental in 2004, I'm glad they went they way of the dinosaurs.

I have a couple of the 2004 models. It was an exp. design. I like the smaller original grooves better. More purchase for the thumb.

Cool, I have one of those. Didn't know they where experimental. Does someone know how many where made?

I've noticed that the rasp on a folder's blade tends to be the first place where rust turns up. I imagine the experimental spine, with broader crevices, wouldn't suffer this problem so heavily.
First folder I make, I'm integrating the rasp and the thumb-stud into one piece of metal separate from the blade; that way I can use something a little more corrosion resistant.

I'm glad you asked this question jk904jk. I have a small like that too. I prefer the finer jimping, which is what's on one of my edc's, but am glad to know the difference now. Kinda nice to have a prototype version in the collection.

I recently just had one of those, see below
