Is it possible that my father get a ticket. I asked him to bring me folding knife(not automatic or spring assested) or fixed blade from NY. He will carry it only from shop to hotel and from hotel to airport in a suitcase. I just look and the laws in NY were very strict:confused:

Sorry I don´t know, I´m from Finland. I send this list to his e-mail for examble how to find stores in the net:

My father told that if he get to security check during transforming the knife from shop to hotel in a briefcase, first think that he do is tell to officers that he is carrying a knife. My father and his travel mates are all wearing suits and they are not drunk(in the day time) when the possible knife is being carry.I don´t know but we have phrase that suit make the man so I think so that it is not likely that they get checked. Maybe in airport but then my possible souvenir is in the suitcase. Package is off course unopened all the time.

I don't see much of a problem if it's in a suitcase. American law requires proof he was suspected of some sort of crime for his bags to be searched, except when going through a security checkpoint, such as the airport. Knives are also not subject to weapons trafficking restrictions in the US (Finland customs might be another matter) so foreigners can buy any knife an American can. So long as that suitcase is put checked baggage and not carry-on, he should be ok.

It is legal to import knifes to Finland(not OTF or Switchblade) thank god. Good to know that my father is not going to Sing Sing because of my souvenir:D I was little bit confused when I read about strict knife law in NY, that really stinks:thumbdn:
